Fractured Ribs
Dr. Hussam Abu Safiya, the detained director of Kamal Adwan Hospital in northern Gaza, suffered fractured ribs after what the Palestinian Prisoners’ Information Office described as violent assaults by Israeli prison authorities inside Rakevet prison.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, the office said Abu Safiya endured severe abuse that left him with multiple injuries, including fractures to his rib cage. It added that July 27 marked “the most difficult day” since his detention, saying he was subjected to “brutal torture” inside the prison.
The office warned that Israeli prison authorities continue to assault Abu Safiya despite his deteriorating medical condition.

According to the statement, Abu Safiya suffers from heart disease and high blood pressure in addition to injuries sustained during repeated assaults.
