‘Carrying out Israeli instructions’ – Hamas sharply attacks Mladenov

Hamas accused Nikolay Mladenov of undermining ceasefire efforts, adopting Israeli positions and sidelining mediators amid renewed escalation.

The Palestine Chronicle  reports on 1 June 2026:

Key Developments

  • Hamas official Osama Hamdan accused Nikolay Mladenov of adopting the Israeli narrative and abandoning neutrality.
  • Hamdan said Mladenov was undermining mediators and attempting to sabotage the implementation of the ceasefire agreement.
  • Hamas insisted the main crisis remains ongoing Israeli attacks on Gaza and reaffirmed its commitment to the ceasefire.

Sharp Attack
Senior Hamas official Osama Hamdan has launched a sharp attack on Nikolay Mladenov, accusing the international envoy of adopting Israel’s narrative, undermining mediators and contributing to the continued escalation in Gaza by failing to confront Israeli violations of the ceasefire agreement.

Speaking on Sunday, Hamdan said Mladenov bears responsibility for the worsening situation because he consistently reflects the Israeli position in his briefings and public statements, thereby forfeiting the neutrality expected of an international representative.  According to Hamdan, Mladenov has remained silent in the face of continued Israeli attacks and has failed to publicly condemn Israeli actions even once since the ceasefire came into effect.

“He must either carry out his duties or tell the world that he has failed to do so,” Hamdan said.
