Promising development and export agreements re being discussed, but fraught politics could wreck them

There are substantial gas fields in Israeli, Lebanese and Egyptian waters. They are big enough to permit exporting within and beyond the Eastern Mediterranean, but political disputes

and tensions are obstructing their development. Not least is the dispute between Lebanon and Israel over the ownership of the big field underneath the territorial waters of both countries.
