Middle East Eye reports on 28 January 2026:

Israeli forces have killed a 20-year-old Palestinian man in a raid south of Hebron, as they carried out a wave of arrests across the occupied West Bank.

Palestine’s Ministry of Health said Mohammed Rajih Nasrallah, 20, from the town of al-Dhahiriya, died on Tuesday evening after he was shot.  The ministry said Nasrallah arrived at Dura Hospital with bullet wounds to the abdomen and remained in critical condition before doctors pronounced him dead.

Israeli forces also shot another Palestinian during the same raid, moderately wounding him, according to Palestinian state news agency Wafa.

The killing came as Israeli troops expanded their nightly raids and detention campaign across several governorates.

In the Bethlehem area, Israeli forces arrested at least three people, according to Wafa. Israeli forces regularly arrest Palestinians regardless of whether they have committed any offence. Thousands are languishing in Israeli prisons without charge, where they face dehumanising conditions, including torture and, in some cases, death.

Further north, meanwhile, Israeli forces arrested 10 Palestinians from the village of Amatin, east of Qalqilya, after raiding homes for around two hours and carrying out searches that residents said caused significant damage.

In the Nablus area, Israeli troops stormed the villages of Madma and Burin before detaining dozens of residents for interrogation and arresting a number of them.

The Directorate of Education in south Nablus shifted schools to remote “educational missions” in Burin, Madma and Asira al-Qibliya, with in-person classes set to resume on Thursday.
