Why boycott Israeli universities?
The Islamic University of Gaza – before the 2023-25 war and since its destruction
BRICUP (British Committee for the Universities of Palestine) launches the publication of the 2nd edition of its booklet on 21 October 2025:
Israel’s genocidal assault on the Gaza Strip, its destruction of health and education systems, its devastation of housing and infrastructure and its starvation of the population, are now exposed as strategies to ethnically cleanse the Palestinian population in preparation for Jewish-Israeli settlement and annexation. Pressure in the West Bank is also intensifying, with the Israeli state co-ordinating settler assaults on Palestinian villages and the IDF attacking refugee camps and towns.
Israel’s higher education system is fully complicit in the state’s expansionist project: in training the perpetrators of the genocide; in providing ideological justifications for mass murder and dispossession; and in developing the military weaponry for the surveillance and killing of Palestinian educationalists, health-care workers, journalists and political leaders as well as of civilians proximate to their deliberate acts of assassination and destruction.
