Airport operates selection of the fittest policy

Israel is surrounding itself with concrete and bureaucratic walls to ensure that only those fit to be in Israel are allowed in. BDS is categorised as antisemitic. Mondoweiss on the experience of 2 women.

Police probe foreigners for any lack of love for Israel

Israel’s security blanket is now so thick that police suspect anyone who might be thought to have any connection to Palestinians. Richard Silverstein tells us they interrogated an official from the Israel-friendly NIF searching for any Arab-lovers in their funding files. And the incursions into British sovereignty know no bounds.

Your father is Palestinian? Strip off your clothes

This is an extraordinary story of the lengths to which Ben Gurion security staff will go to a) assure themselves a passenger is not a security threat b) humiliate any traveller who is not 100 per cent Jewish. The fact that the sponsors of the US Strategic Partnership Act (see post below) are happy to let their citizens be maltreated by what sounds like a gang turned crazy by their scanner-based jobs is shameful.

Aid worker with Palestinian father refused entry to Israel

When Kamil Qandil was denied re-entry to Israel he chose not to take a plane back to Warsaw but to stay in the detention centre while making an appeal against the immigration and border authority. There the inmates are divided into ethnic and geographic sections. The one thing they had in common is that they did not know why they were being detained or refused entry. Amira Hass reports on the Polish citizen’s experience.

‘It seems that Israel is determined to become a fascist state’

London student Jakril Hoque is shocked when he is interrogated, imprisoned and deported from Ben Gurion airport. Why? He is the wrong colour. He is most shocked when his interrogator tells him happily that Israel alone is alllowed to practise racial discrimination because it is ‘special’. From justifying paranoia and racism to implementing fascism is not, it seems, beyond possibility.

Emails of pro-Palestinians illegally checked by Ben Gurion security staff

Americans with Arab surnames have been instructed to open their private emails for checking by security staff at Ben Gurion airport – and deported if they reveal pro-Palestinian links or if they refuse to log-on. Such a practice is illegal without a named search warrant. LOL or be befuddled at the transcript of AP questioning a State department official. AP and Mondoweiss.

Israel pulls out all the stops to block activists flying to Israel

According to the Israeli government their actions to prevent the ‘flytilla’ arriving in Israel on Sunday 15th to join the Welcome to Palestine campaign succeeded in saving ‘naive students’ from being used by deceitful Arabs and left-wing plotters. Those actions, including threats to commercial airlines and bans on and ‘contracts’ for named individuals, (another PR disaster?) are described next.
