Who are the UJIA?
From UJIA website
[The United Jewish Israel Association is a charity dedicated to strengthening Jewish identity as Israeli identity. Their income in the year ended September 2011 (latest figures available) was 12,214,000. It has been in continuous decline for some years. It was 17,232,000 in 2008 and 17,805 in 2006. According to the Jewish Chronicle the UJIA has recently ‘shifted to concentrate more on Israel and reduce spending on home causes.’]
Strengthening Jewish Identity and the connection to Israel
A strong Jewish identity rooted in a deep connection to Israel, is the key to a strong community. Between 1950-2000, Britain’s Jewish community declined by 40%. We cannot take for granted that our children and grandchildren will be connected to their heritage and to Israel when they grow up.
Strengthening Jewish Identity and the connection to Israel
That’s why UJIA has spent the last ten years investing in programmes that make Judaism and Israel inspiring, relevant and accessible to our young people. We reach thousands of young people in traditional settings like Youth Movements, as well as Jewish pupils in mainstream schools who would otherwise have no Jewish content in their daily lives.
[We wonder whether Ofsted has assessed whether the many many millions of pounds which the UJIA has invested in this youth education has reached its targets? Is anybody counting?]
Bill Benjamin UJIA Chairman. [He is also a member of the Jewish Leadership Council and replaced Mick Davis as UJIA chairman. Mick Davis is now chairman of the Board of Trustees of the JLC.]
The shopping app was developed by Give4sure.com.
Its founders were Richard Franks, (entrepreneur) Jana Satchi (entrepreneur) and Oliver Searle-Barnes, technology and product development.
The company, started in 2012, has yet to file it accounts. So far, it has over 1,400 retailers signed up. It says on its website:
“It’s Easy to be Ethical“
Your supporters can support your charity every dayHomeFAQMeet the team
Supporters raise money for your charity whenever they shop online
We had a simple vision; to match our charitable aspirations with the speed of our 21st century lives. So we have created our App; an ‘effortless ethical tool’.
By downloading the App your supporters will be rewarded with a donation for your charity every time they shop online. The App is white-labelled and customised by us to your charity’s requirements.
No cost to you or your supporters
Your supporters pay the regular price for their shopping. The retailer makes the donation to your charity. We do not charge your charity for our services.
Easy for your supporters to use
Our App is so clever, unlike other giving tools you do not have to change your supporter’s shopping habits. For example using your usual search engine e.g. Google, you look for ‘kids bikes’ and we’ll show you in colour which retailers are offering your charity donations. Unlike the majority of other Apps we do not collect any personal data from your supporters.
