Arab and Jews protest the Jerusalem Flag March in Jaffa, 18 May 2023

Dozens of Jews and Arabs are protesting against the Flag March in Jaffa, in a rally also dedicated to the struggle against the eviction of the city’s Arab residents from their homes at the Amidar public housing project.

Addressing protesters, some of whom were waving the Palestinian flag, Hadash Lawmaker Ofer Cassif said that the Flag March is a “Violent parade presented as a joyous dance. Rioting gangs backed by Ben-Gvir and the fascist government are bullying Arabs to show them who’s in charge. This is disgusting Kahanism at its peak.”

Sapir Slutzker, an activist with Breaking the Walls, joined Cassif in condemning the march, saying: “I’m a religious person and I go to Jerusalem to pray. What’s happening there now is in my opinion blasphemy. They are not Jews, they’re racist and fascists, privileged settlers who gain financially from their activities and get money from organizations that just want to divide us.”
