Letter to the Irish Times urging Ireland to act

A group of prominent Israelis has written a letter to the Irish Times urging the Irish government to enact legislation that will enforce differentiation between Israel per se and the illegal settlements in the occupied territories of the West Bank and East Jerusalem. The Israeli group includes former heads of the Foreign Ministry, former Ambassadors and former members of the parliament.

Their letter says “We are convinced that Israel’s ongoing occupation of the Palestinian land in the West Bank and East Jerusalem is morally and strategically unsustainable, is detrimental to peace, and poses a threat to the security of Israel itself.” It also says European Union countries, while considering the occupation and the settlements illegal, continue to sustain them by trading with settlements.
