Having laid the foundation for an Arab-free state…

There is now nothing to protect Arabs – or any ethnic or religious minority or democratic institution – from being subjugated to the will of the settlers’ leadership. A very disturbing account from Oren Yiftachel.

Brazil objects to settler leader as Israeli envoy

As Dani Dayan is known as ‘the most effective leader the settlers have ever had’ (NY Times) it is not surprising that Brazilian president Dilma Rousseff is demurring at accepting him as Israel’s next ambassador to her country. Netanyahu wants him there either to get him out of the way or because “Israel is focused on developing trade ties with international markets in South America, with the emphasis on Brazil,” the statement said. “Brazil also has a blooming population of over 40 million Christian lovers of Israel.”

The right to throw stones – and the need to say so: Amira Hass

Amira Hass, described in one of these TV interviews as “one of the greatest truth-seekers of them all” defends in the interviews her view that Palestinians have a right to throw stones to resist the occupation. “The main thing” she says “is to concentrate on the violence of the ruler”. Introduction and links to these interviews, plus an article from the settlers’ paper Israel Haayom about the Yesha Council’s (settlers) decision to sue Ha’aretz and Amira Hass.

One equal state edges into Israeli mainstream

Signs of a growing interest by Israeli Jews to consider a one-state solution suggest the idea is moving into the mainstream says Rachel Lever. Whether these signs, such as settlers willing to support getting building permits for Palestinians, manifests Israeli colonial expansion or a genuine readiness to accept one state with equal rights for all depends on context.
