From Occupation to Apartheid in 6 years

In this interview the former Special Rapporteur for Palestine Richard Falk is asked about his time in the post, what changed, what were the highs (getting injustice documented) and lows (the campaign of personal defamation against him).

The harassment of Richard Falk

Richard Falk was appointed in 2008 by the UN to succeed John Dugard as their special rapporteur on human rights in the oPt. As a Princeton professor of international law, this American Jew was well qualified. He has been on a tour promoting his latest book – and everywhere pro-Israel zealots turn up and try to prevent him speaking. Why does supporting Israel seem incompatible with free speech?

Falk banned for warning of apartheid

Richard Falk, former UN rapporteur on Israeli Violations in Palestine and professor of international law knows more about Palestine/Israel than most. His is a legal, not emotional, approach. But his co-authoring of a report on Israeli apartheid led to the cancellation of his talks at 2 British universities and a meeting disrupted by Zionist hecklers at LSE. The trend here of censoring discussion of Israel is now an established denial of free speech.

The tireless effort the US and Israel put into defaming their critics and deflecting their criticism

If it weren’t so serious it would be comical watching how the US and Israeli do elaborate dances to ensure they and their vassals never have to hear, or judge by the standard of international law the daily breaches of Palestinian human and political rights carried out by Israel. But it’s not comical and former UN Special Rapporteur Richard Falk has been on on the receiving end of their tactics of ignorance. Palestinian passivity does not help – but then political passivity has become the hallmark of western ‘civilisations’, unnervingly like the 1930s.

Frustrated Falk calls for boycott of settlement producers

In an address to the UN General Assembly on Thursday, Special Rapporteur Richard Falk spoke of the many companies now making use of the favourable (for them) conditions of production in the settlements. He called for these companies to be boycotted. None of the many bodies attacking him noted the laws and agreements which, Mr.Falk pointed out, the companies were violating.
