The role of diaspora Jews vis-à-vis Israel

Perhaps because the questions of Forward were addressed only to Rabbis, the answers they got were largely pro-Israel conservative. The idea that Jews must protect Israel as it is a small fragile country seems, like a lot of the answers, to be based on a fantasy Israel. Israel has the third highest military spending per capita.

Jewish-Arab brothers for God’s rule

Akiva Eldar notes the similarities between the Muslim Brotherhood and Israel’s religious parties; both are trying to refashion their respective states and laws to embody God’s wishes as understood from sacred writings. In practice, this means that the political authority of elected representatives is subordinate to the authority of imams and rabbis. But Eldar does overlook the conflicts between clerical groups and with religious parties.
