This government can’t be serious

Former defence minister Moshe Ya’alon has launched another attack on the PM, calling on him to resign as a threat to democracy. He also attacked other ministers for their rhetoric of decisive security actions but doing nothing.

Foreign policy handed to proud racist

Bogie’s out leaving Bougie and Bibi to bogey on down the racist road of no return. Articles from Haaretz, Salon and Richard Silverstein, who makes a Putin link.

Disdain and belligerence define IDF leaders’ view of Palestinians

Palestinians may feel anger and hatred towards their oppressors – but those oppressors regard them as contemptible sub-humans who can be ignored – if not rushed. Ya’alon in particular regards all filmed evidence of police and IDF brutality as faked. The refusal to deal with reality infects the whole country.

Islamic charity returns to Gaza after audit

On June 19th 2014, 3 weeks before the killing of 3 Israeli teenagers, Israeli defence minister Moshe Ya’alon banned Islamic Relief Worldwide from operating in the oPt, claiming IRW funnelled money to Hamas. The slim evidence for this seems to be that some of their charitable operations in Gaza involved Hamas members. After an internal investigation and a external audit IRW says it will resume work in Gaza.

Bibi’s bulldog blusters on

Israel’s defence minister Moshe Ya’alon has again attacked the US administration, this time for ‘weakness’ in the region. The fact that he is still in office – despite hostile criticism from most of the Israeli media – means he is saying what his boss Netanyahu wants him to say: that Israel has the power and will to make the attacks (Iran, Syria) on its own – a dangerous delusion.

From now on EU aid workers to Palestine are ‘just tourists’

Defense Minister Moshe Ya’alon has ordered the IDF’s civil administration to end all cooperation with EU officials in retaliation for the EU clarifying its existing rules on funding Israeli projects in the oPt (the EC guidelines). Much of the EU humanitarian aid is in funding and supporting the provision of medical services and water supplies to Palestinians in response to the destruction of amenities by settlers or Israeli forces.
