There are many organisations which train foreigners to visit Palestinian communities, to observe and listen and bear witness once home. The EAPPI is one of the best known and Sue Beardon, JfJfP signatory, was one of their volunteers. Now she helps administer the programme.

Christians and Jews: where elite speaks only to elite

This is the latest episode in a long-running story (see post for links) about the Anglican Church’s support for the Ecumenical Accompaniment Programme and the dismal views of the right-wing Jewish establishment that any support for the EAPPI is anti-Israel is anti-Jewish, and that only they speak for UK Jews. Church of England backs work of ecumenical programme in Palestine and Israel

Why would the Church of England NOT back the work of an ecumenical programme in Palestine? Because, as Ben White explains – with detailed evidence – the Synod which voted for this work was put under heavy pressure by groups claiming to speak for ‘the Jewish Community’ and suggesting the CofE was full of anti-semites. News report, the motion in question, and the Board of Deputies’ reaction.

Board of Deputies launches attack on Christian churches’ programme

The Board of Deputies, the ‘establishment’ body of British Jews, has launched an attack on the Ecumenical Accompaniment Programme in Palestine and Israel, a World Council of Churches initiative which supports Palestinians under attack. The sudden move seems to be a response to growing public antagonism to the Occupation, as is a petition against the Co-op’s boycott decision from ‘We Believe in Israel’. JfJfP issues a statement supporting EAPPI and criticising the Board of Deputies for its misleading attack.
