Christian imperialists saw Palestinians as worthless infidels

100 years later and the British government is proud of the decision by the 1917 Liberal government – known as the Balfour Declaration – to ‘look favourably’ on the creation of a Jewish homeland in Palestine. Why? Because it can pride itself on the birth of Israel of course. The crushing of Palestine as a potential nation-state is an unfortunate side-effect.

The Zionists who won’t live near Jews

The phenomenon of Zionism is nothing to do with loving Jews. There are more Christian Zionists than Jewish Zionists and they donate more money to Israel. Non-Jewish Zionists have more grandiose ambitions for Israel than do most Israelis says Suzanne Schneider. And many of these Zionists are distinctly uncomfortable in Jewish company.

Christian Zionists love those who hate them

It is well-known that Christian Zionists are evangelical about Jews retaking Israel (to trigger the 2nd Coming). Less well-known, points out Richard Silverstein, is that Jewish supremacists in Israel are violently hostile to Christianity.

Holy cow!

Throughout human history crazy cults have flourished, and died. The apocalypse hasn’t come, they run out of money and backers. But as the Temple Institute, dedicated to dreams of building the Third Temple, is backed by wealthy Christian Zionists the cult can go on for eternity, on its way commissioning the creation of a red heifer which will restore Jewish control over Al Aqsa. Jonathan Cook takes the threat seriously.

Fanatics for Israel and Jesus (and against abortion)

This is not directly about Israel/Palestine. American evangelical Christians have long been the most absolute supporters of Israel, fitting their apocalyptic vision about the end when Zionism complete will lead to the end of Jews and triumph of select Christians. A renegade evangelical says these views are now dominant.

Evangelical Christians recruit messianic Jews for earthly wealth and heavenly status

Christian and Jewish zionists may seem locked in a pro-Israel embrace – but Christian zionists have their own agenda – convert all Jews to Christianity before the end of days. Put another way, enthusiastic Christians see Judaism as a false belief which they will hug into extinction. More subtle than the evangelicals are the ‘Jews for Jesus’ who insist that Jesus is the messiah prophesied in the Torah. Earthly concerns may decide before the end of times.

Onward Christian soldiers – into Israel’s bomb shelters

Love thy neighbour is a commandment for Jews, Christians and Muslims, who revere the Old Testament/Torah; ‘love thine enemy’ is the injunction Christianity introduced. So what are Christian Zionists doing giving material and moral support to the IDF and supporting the eradication of a Palestinian nation? Tristan Sturm reports on the descent on Jerusalem of such American Christians for Succot/the Feast of the Tabernacles.
