The ambassador who steals land

David Friedman was known in Palestine before Trump appointed him as ambassador to Israel. He and his parents have long acted as protector and funder of the Beit El settlement – built on land owned by Palestinians. They treat it as their personal domain.for which they have expansive plans.

No policy? Make up what you fancy

David Friedman was Trump’s bankruptcy lawyer – a big job for his 6-times bankrupt friend and the funder/nursemaid of an illegal settlement near Ramallah. No matter than he has no diplomatic experience; Trump et al have no policy for him to promote.

Trump’s too wobbly to build settlements on

No-one knows what deal Pres. Trump might want to make over settlement construction and whom will the deal be with? Peter Beaumont thinks the settlers might be rejoicing too early, mistaking the president as a man like them, with a fixed ideology. But ambassador-in-waiting David Friedman likes and is like the settlers.

Ambassador Friedman, a man with no qualities

The only way in which David Friedman will be a successful ambassador in Israel for the US is if he finds a way of concealing the facts on the ground – no occupation, no Palestinian political prisoners, no restrictions on free movement….His role is not to report the truth but to provide alt-facts. Analysis from The Hill and FMEP.
