Academics must have same ethics as IDF

That’s an ironic headline. University staff and the IDF (the most moral army etc etc) have both got a code of ethics written by Prof. Asa Kasher. For the IDF, the code is a propaganda screen. For the academics the code would be a powerful weapon preventing critical and inquiring studies and BDS. Mondoweiss reports

BDS grows in tangent with the far right

Support for right-wing politicians is growing in Israel, the USA and Europe. Omar Barghouti has felt the repression first-hand and says the BDS movement is growing in response. Interview and article.

Secret war against BDS supporters

This well-researched article by Uri Blau depicts a key Israeli ministry on a war footing. The dept. of strategic affairs does not brief politicians to answer Israel’s critics. Instead it compiles lists of all in and outside Israel of BDS supporters and tarnishes their image. Omar Barghouti is the first victim of this secret but bellicose effort.

Israel compiling massive database of every BDS supporter

If the priorities of the Israeli government were ordered by ministerial time then hunting and expelling BDS supporters would come at or near the top. Gilad Erdan, BDS-hunter general, has supervised the listing of all BDS supporters outside Israel. Now he’s ordered the same time-consuming job for Israeli citizens making freedom of speech and of choice privileges, not rights.

Foreign BDS supporters deported from Israel

The official line was that BDS campaign was puny. With the appointment of two ministers to run a very well funded anti-BDS unit the talk is now of ‘existential threat’ – another one!- and all security services put on alert to identify them and keep them out of Israel.

Stop settlement growth to stop BDS say diplomats

Ynet did not invite any supporters of BDS to their Stop the Boycott conference on March 28th. They did invite ambassadors and they said, as diplomats always do, that if Israel ‘solves the Palestinian issue’, BDS will wither away.

Costly and desperate measures by anti-BDS lobby

The Pro-Israel lobby appears to have agreed that the BDS movement now shares equal place with Iran as the foremost enemies who wish to annihilate Israel – if not physically, by lies, slander and delegitimisation. US Congress has passed a bill outlawing trade with any European body which condones BDS, Yair Lapid speechifies that BDSers were responsible for 9/11, Sheldon Adelson is sending out his Maccabees, Netanyahu is fulminating. Happily, the ADL says BDS is having no effect at all.

Israel lobby hard at work to destroy free speech in US campuses

Students for Justice in Palestine are springing up in many American universities. They put on demonstrations of the Wall and military checkpoints, and join the movement for BDS. Enraged, the Jewish establishment is doing what it can to shut down or silence these activists. A handful of billionaires and the Israeli government fund re-education projects, professional advocates and legal cases – with little return on their investment.

A desperate hunt for something to stop the growth of BDS

The publlicity about Scarlett Johansson and the bubble-maker has been a gift to the BDS movement, confirming it is a progressive and popular movement, even though its aims remain unclear to many. Richard Silverstein applies the model of the stages of grief to how the Israeli state is and its supporters are trying to fend off and falsify its aim (which is, uncontroversially, to make Israel comply with international law).
