We provide links to articles we think will be of interest to our supporters. We are sympathetic to much of the content of what we post, but not to everything. The fact that something has been linked to here does not necessarily mean that we endorse the views expressed in it.

US Methodists urged to divest from profits from occupation

Delegates from the US Methodist Church are in conference this week. A decision they have to make is whether or not to divest from companies that profit from the occupation. Like the Co-op (see posting below) they have a history of ethical investment. Here they are urged, in Mondoweiss and The Magnes Zionist, to have the courage to divest.UPDATE: voted against divestment, e.i. and NY Times report

America’s Israel lobby made up of Christians

Often wrongly referred to as ‘the Jewish lobby’, the popular pro-Israel lobby in the US is largely made up of Christian evangelicals. Like some Orthodox Jews, they say this is because it is biblical prophesy that Jews are destined to occupy the whole land from Jordan to the sea. Charting the shift from suspicion to embrace, Shmuel Rosner wonders if Israelis should continue to look this gift-horse in the mouth.

Jewish nationalists scrawl ‘Jesus son of Mary the whore’ on Christian church

Price-tag thugs have until now attacked buildings – usually mosques but also an IDF base – in the West Bank . Now a Baptist Church in W. Jeruslaem has been vandalised by, say police, Jewish nationalists. It seems a poor reward for the American Christians whose money and support has made so much ‘Jewish nationalist’ activity possible.
