ngomonitorKnow your enemy is not a bad maxim. NGO Monitor  seems dedicated to undermining any criticism of Israel by calling into question the good faith or the very use of any testimony by any NGO on any topic on the grounds that such evidence is inevitably tainted. Its reports feed the prejudices and knee-jerk reactions of the Israel-right-or-wrong brigade. It responds rapidly and with well-resourced disinformation campaigns. Currently Richard Goldstone is its bête noir.

And the fact that so many NGOs came out in support of the report’s recommendations is further evidence that Goldstone is in the pocket of these NGOs!

See Tony Lerman’s Comment is Free article (15 September) Judge Goldstone and the pollution of argument: Attacks on human rights groups that probe Israel’s Gaza offensive are an insult to reasonable public debate for a discussion of some of these issues.

But not to be unfair. Here are links to three major publications produced in double-quick time to rubbish the Goldstone Report, so you can assess the role of NGO Monitor for yourself.
