We provide links to articles we think will be of interest to our supporters. We are sympathetic to much of the content of what we post, but not to everything. The fact that something has been linked to here does not necessarily mean that we endorse the views expressed in it.

Antisemitic Zionism

la-et-it-is-no-dream

We post a second article (out of several this week) pondering the phenomenon of the white nationalists who hold antisemitic stereotypes (though some of their best friends may be…) while being staunchly for a Zionist Israel. Not a contradiction in a right-wing world view.

‘Celebratory violence’ of nationalist right

Americans were first to link the improbable swing to Brexit with the improbable swing to Trump. Hate crimes suddenly shot up, and quickly subsided in both instances; both rode on a fantasy that the days of white Christian supremacy were the best of days. Report from the Southern Poverty Law Center.

Awakening white men

Racism has not been so overt in the USA for half a century. Richard Spencer, leader of the alt-right movement, thinks Trump took ‘the first step’ but he’s merely a useful idiot in a march to restore the supremacy of white – which doesn’t include Jews – men.

Don’t let Trump & co. be the ‘new normal’

It is the appointment of Steve Bannon, who trails a long history of antisemitism, white nationalism, anti-Black racism and women-hatred, that has made it impossible for many to put up with Trump as America’s president.

Trump leads surge in antisemitism

Twitter has enabled a new public forum of antisemitism – as it has for all forms of racist and religious abuse. American Jews are less used to being the targets of racism but Trump’s large following of white nationalists has shocked them.
