Former President Shimon Peres is being used to push for the annexation of Ma’ale Adumim into Israeli sovereign territory. The ad came out on Sunday.

The campaign is being called “continuing on their path,” and uses the faces of all of the prime ministers who have served in that position since the establishment of the community. The ad campaign opens up with Shimon Peres, next to a quote he said regarding the town.

“Developing Ma’ale Adumim will ensure the fortification of Jerusalem,” he said.

During a memorial ceremony on Friday, Peres’s granddaughter Mika Almog said “The hand which is holding the weapon without hesitation must also be the hand which reaches out in peace.”

The campaign will also use the likeness of Ariel Sharon, who allegedly once said “Ma’ale Adumim will be built as a part of the nation of Israel, forever.” The likeness of several other leaders who made guarantees or statements attesting to Ma’ale Adumim remaining in Israeli hands forever will also be used.

Posters will be placed outside the Knesset and at the entrances of Jerusalem.

one-sided and anti-Israel, in the marking of products as well and paying salaries of terrorists,” he said.

The Ma’ale Adumim municipality and the “Regavim” movement are the main drivers of the campaign, along with the Yesha council. This corresponded to a Knesset move to approve a bill during the winter session. The initiative is being headed by MK Yoav Kish (Likud) and MK Bezalel Smotrich (Jewish Home).

This is all being done while immense pressure is on Prime Minister Netanyahu, who worries that US President Obama might take steps against Israel over the settlements during the latter’s last few days in office.

Israeli campaign demands to annex illegal West Bank settlement, Ma’ale Adumim

By PNN

Bethlehem–The West Bank Israeli settlements council and the municipality of Ma’ali Adumim illegal settlement, and the settlement lobby in the Knesset, have started a new campaign, demanding that Israelis sign a petition to add the settlement to “Israel.”

The campaign ad, published Sunday in the Israeli daily Haaretz, promoted on Facebook, and placed on banners at the entrance to Jerusalem and around the Knesset, had the slogan “Continuing in their Path,” in reference to the three: ex-Israeli president Shimon Peres, ex-prime minister, Ariel Sharon and ex-prime minister Ehud Barak.

The campaign tells Israelis to support imposing Israeli sovereignty on Ma’ale Adumim, with or without an agreement.

As reported by The Jewish Press website, the full statement by Perez said: “The development of Ma’ale Adumim will secure the defences of Jerusalem”; late prime minister and destroyer of Jewish Gaza Ariel Sharon: “Ma’ale Adumim will be built as part of the State of Israel for eternity”; settlements foe and former prime minister, Ehud Barak: “Everything you build in Ma’ale Adumim remains part of the State of Israel forever, period”; and the destroyer of the Jewish city of Yamit, the late Menachem Begin: “I bless the establishment of Ma’ale Adumim. The only viable option is our rule in Judea and Samaria.”

Israeli settlements in the West Bank are considered illegal in international law and have faced sharp condemnations from the UN, US and international bodies. However, Israel is still expanding settlements everyday, and is unlikely to give them up.

In a recent interview with Al-Quds newspaper, right wing Israeli minister of army, Avigdor Lieberman said that Israel will not give up the settlements or exchange lands for peace. Instead, it will keep the big settlements and will only give back the areas it does not need, mentioning Umm Al-Fahem town near Akka as an example.
