Deputy Education minister Avi Wortzman. Wortzman is a religious MK, a member of Jewish Home. In 2013 he said of talks with the Palestinian Authority and a possible Palestinian state:

Bayit Yehudi’s stance is clear. The Land of Israel belongs to the Jewish people. We oppose a two-state solution. The nations of the world appreciate those who stick to their principles and their historic roots. As long as we are determined that our connection to the land is deep, the rest of the world will appreciate and accept it.

Israeli deputy minister to Brits: Keep enjoying Islamic State

Deputy Education Minister Avi Wortzman (Habayit Hayehudi) was harshly criticized over the weekend for posting on his Facebook page last Tuesday that the British public should “keep on enjoying the Islamic State [group], they are developing nicely with you, they really feel at home.”

In the post, Wortzman, who was protesting last week’s vote in the British Parliament to recognize a Palestinian state, also said: “On the day they seek to recognize a Palestinian state whose capital is London, and that is not as far off as it seems, we will also consider supporting it.”

Hundreds of people responded to Wortzman’s post, many of them coming out against it.

Responding to the photo Wortzman’s posted, showing three hijab-clad Muslim women in London, one commenter said: “Every girl with a hijab is part of IS, just about the way every kid with a knitted skullcap belongs to the price tag [movement] or every Jewish person wearing black with a hooked nosexxxx is a usurer.”

“What would you say,” another commenter asked, “if instead of three Muslim women there were three women wearing a snood and someone wrote something like that?”

One responder turned Wortzman’s title back on him: “And you’re the deputy education minister? For shame.”

Among the commenters was MK Ahmed Tibi (United Arab List-Ta’al), who tweeted in response to the post: “What ignorance the deputy education minister can cause.”

Tibi added that Wortzman “talked about IS in London and posted a picture of three women wearing a hijab. Jewish antisemitism?”
